About me

Monique Lavoie is a visual artist based in Quebec City. Her work sensitively explores urban landscapes, architecture, and floral scenes. Holding a bachelor’s degree in architecture, she draws major inspiration from this discipline, which shapes both her choice of subjects and the precision of her execution. Her mastery of both technical and artistic drawing allows her to structure space in a unique way, bridging the gap between constructive rigor and artistic freedom.

My artistic approach

Over the years, her practice has been enriched by the creation of works resulting from the integration of new media and the learning of techniques, particularly from renowned watercolorists who are members of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. Now fully dedicated to her creative work, Monique Lavoie is refining her approach and perfecting her visual signature through the Certificate Program in Visual Arts at Laval University.

A devotee of urban sketching and live model drawing, the artist captures the essence of her city and her travels through figurative works. Whether realistic or stylized, her compositions reflect a keen observation of people, objects, and everyday scenes. Her pictorial research revolves around watercolor and mixed media, which she primarily applies to watercolor paper and wood panels.
